Dancing on Ice's Holly Willoughby defended by fans after new series 'backlash' on Instagram

Holly Willoughby has been defended by a large number of fans after receiving negative comments on Dancing on Ice's new series, as some critics called for her and Phillip Schofield to be replaced as presenters.

After the line-up for the new series was confirmed in the autumn, the start date for Dancing on Ice's latest run has now been confirmed as Sunday, December 15, with all of this year's skating stars heading onto the rink for a 90 minute launch, in a major format change to years gone by.

While the length of the Dancing on Ice's live shows may have changed, both its judging panel and hosts will remain the same, meaning that Holly and her This Morning partner in crime Phillip will once again be at the helm. First look photos of this year's contestants, judges and hosts were released by ITV earlier this week, with Holy quick to share one of her and Phillip together, as well as a solo shot of her behind the scenes, on her Instagram grid.

However, some viewers saw Holly's excited post as an opportunity to aim jabs at her and Phillip, with one writing: "The 2 of them have had their time, I’m bored looking at them and listening to them," and another commenting: "These two still trying to convince us they are liked."

However, while there were a number of negative reactions on Holly's Insta post, there were plenty of others from fans who rushed to support her, with one follower replying: "Don’t understand why people are saying “get new presenters” and “the show has run its time” uhhh ant and dec have had shows for just as long, just don’t watch it maybe???"

And after one critic reacted : "These two get everywhere," a fan wrote: "so what they have earned their place they start at the bottom and worked their way to the top they worked hard’ jealous really get a life."
