Dancing on Ice's Christopher Dean fires thinly veiled 'diva' dig at past contestants

Christopher Dean ran the risk of upsetting some former Dancing on Ice stars on Sunday night, when he made a remark about there being a few 'divas' on the show over the year.

Since it made its TV debut back in early 2006, Dancing on Ice has generated plenty of headlines for what has gone on away from cameras, as much as for the performances themselves. Who can forget Gemma Collins accusing judge Jason Gardiner of 'selling stories' on her back in 2019, or the scandal surrounding Caprice and her 'bullying' claims against pro partner Hamish Gaman, before she ended up quitting the show in 2020.

First onto the ice on Sunday's second show of Dancing on Ice's new series was RuPaul's Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne, who got to emulate her number one icon Cher, with a routine to the music legend's track Strong Enough. The Vivienne even honoured Cher's famous If I Could Turn Back Time outfit for her debut on the ITV rink, as she delivered a top drawer performance, that say her get a great first week score, including a 7.5 from Winter Olympic champion Chris.

The Vivienne looked blown away by her total of 28.5 and the feedback she got from the judges. Giving his verdict, Chris said: "A star was born on the ice tonight...The Vivienne. To be fair, our very own diva on ice."

He added: "I have to say, we've had a few divas, but you're our best skating diva," as Dancing on Ice host Phillip Schofield interrupted: "Just a few!"

Getting back to his original point, Chris continued: "I loved the strength you had out there; you're sureness, the six step you did with the hops, I haven't seen that before. So solid, congratulations."
