Brendyn Hatfield is a Dancing on Ice professional skater who became one half of the show's second all-male coupling over the weekend.
The talented star was paired with former Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole for Musicals Week after Brendan’s regular partner, Vanessa Bauer, tested positive for Covid meaning she had to pull out of this week’s show.
So Brendyn, who had been performing with S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens until she was eliminated in week three, offered to step invat the 11th hour.
Speaking about his new skating partner, Brendan said: “I’ve been given an amazing opportunity to create something fantastic for Musicals Week with Brendyn.
“He’s an exceptionally talented skater and I have no doubt we will be able to create something really special for the show. I can’t thank him enough for stepping in.”
Here’s everything we know about Brendyn Hatfield and what he had to say about being partnered with Brendan.
Who is Brendyn Hatfield?
Brendyn Hatfield is 36 years old and originally from Seattle in Washington.
The professional figure skater made his name in the Disney on Ice shows, playing both Aladdin and Woody from Toy Story.
As well as being a pro on the ice, he also studied Media Management in the States and has held jobs as an Editor and Cinematographer.
His credits include the short film My Name Is Tommy.
Is Brendyn Hatfield married?
Brendyn is married to fellow Dancing on Ice pro skater Jessica Hatfield.
It is not known exactly when she met Brendyn, but they starred in Disney on Ice productions together around the globe for years – she was Jasmine to Brendyn’s Aladdin.
Jessica is a reserve dancer on the ITV show, which means she is on hand to fill in for any professional who is unable to perform throughout the series.
She has competed in one series so far when she was partnered with BBC presenter Radzi Chinyanganya, but they were eliminated in week three.
In addition to her skating career, she is also a registered nurse.
How long has Brendyn Hatfield been on Dancing On Ice?
Brendyn joined Dancing on Ice in 2020 at the same time as his wife Jessica Hatfield.
So far he has been partnered with ITV newsreader Lucrezia Millarini, but the pair were the second couple to be eliminated.
Last year, he made it to the semi-final with British rapper Lady Leshurr, coming fourth place.
For this year’s series, he was partnered with former S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens.
Rachel had to miss one week of the show due to a broken wrist but amazingly got back on the ice, only to be voted off in week three.
What has Brendyn said about being partnered with Brendan Cole?
The same-sex male pairing is only the second time there has been one on Dancing on Ice.
Back in 2020, Steps Singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins was partnered with long-time skating pro Matt Evers.
Speaking about getting another chance on this year’s show, Brendyn said he was “honoured” to have been asked to skate with Brendan.
He added: “I’m looking forward to putting together an exciting routine for this Sunday’s show which I’m hoping will impress both the judges and viewers.”
