Both Siva Kaneswaran and Mollie Gallagher were given the boot from Dancing on Ice on Sunday night, as viewers accused producers of making a 'brutal' and 'unfair' move at the end of an emotionally charged semi final.
It was announced by host Phillip Schofield near the end of last week's Dancing on Ice that there would be a double elimination in the semi, leaving just three couples to battle it out for the crown in the live finale. That heaped the pressure on Siva, Mollie and their co-stars Joey Essex, The Vivienne and Nile Wilson, with that added to by the fact that they had to do a solo skate minutes into Sunday's programme.
They were then all reunited with their pro partners for a 'personal' skate, which saw Siva deliver an emotional tribute to Tom Parker, following The Wanted star's death last year and Coronation Street actress Mollie perform to a song that she said reminded her of the harrowing hate crime storyline her character Nina was involved in on the soap a few years ago.
After this week's public vote, only Nile and The Vivienne were sent through automatically, with the other three celebs having to battle it out in the skate-off and all four judges opting to keep Joey and Vanessa in contention.
The fact that two couples were sent packing after a very moving and deeply personal show was attacked by many Dancing on Ice fans at home, with one taking to Twitter to post: "Everyone deserves to be in the final this is unfair," while attacking both the double elimination and the eventual result, another fumed: "Why are they even doing a double elimination tonight. So unfair Just send Joey home alone and that would be the right decision"
