Dancing On Ice line-up: Love Island Aftersun's Darren Harriott joins ITV show

Love Island Aftersun presenter Darren Harriott has become the latest star to join the Dancing On Ice line-up.

The ITV2 comedian will compete against the likes of Joey Essex and Drag Race's The Vivienne on the ice skating show.

Appearing on Trisha Goddard's TalkTV show, Darren said: "I’ve got giant feet, I don't skate and I can't dance! My family has already made bets - they’re making bets that I’ll fall on the first episode!”

He is the eighth celebrity to be announced taking part on the ITV show alongside EastEnders star Patsy Palmer, football legend John Fashanu, Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, olympic gymnast Nile Wilson and Coronation Street’s Mollie Gallagher.

It comes after Joey announced on This Morning that he would be taking part and said that he would be doing the show "for himself" and would be taking it seriously, as now was the right time after a previous chance to sign up fell flat.

He told hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary: "I'm so happy, I'm so excited. It's more serious to what I normally do, I've done all the dating shows in the world. This is a bit more serious for me."

He went on: "I used to go to foam parties in a dancing rink, I'm not the best skater. I done [ice skating] when I was maybe 11, or 12, but nothing proper, no.

"It's scary, it's a competition. I've done The Jump which was similar but not really. I don't know how I won that. Winning would be a bonus, I'm gonna put my whole energy into it."

On previously missing out on the show, Joey said now was the right time in his life to take on the challenge.

He told the hosts: "I was probably a little bit immature back then. I’d like to say I’ve matured, I’ve grown up.

“I feel like back then it probably wouldn’t have been right for me. I believe that and I think the producers knew that as well, but at this stage of my life I am so ready for something like this.

“I’m ready for the commitment. It’s not easy to do, it’s five and a half months work.”
