Dancing On Ice has been thrown into chaos just days before the competition's launch show on Sunday night.
Love Island winner Ekin-Su Culculoglu has revealed she may miss her first live performance after falling ill, and reality star Joey Essex is recovering from a gruesome injury. Christopher Dean, Jayne Torvill, Ashley Banjo and Motsi Mabuse are all back on the judging panel ahead of the 2023 series, while Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will continue as hosts.
Alongside Ekin-Su and Joey, other celebrities competing for the championship include football legend John Fashanu, Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson, Coronation Street's Mollie Gallagher, drag queen The Vivienne, comedian Darren Harriott, actress Carley Stenson and The Wanted's Siva Kaneswaran.
Speaking on Friday's instalment of Good Morning Britain, judges Christopher and Jayne revealed that The Only Way Is Essex star Joey is currently struggling to stay upright following a grisly accident. Christopher said: "Joey is priceless that's for sure. He's very passionate. I always say if you're not falling you're not trying. And he is falling a lot!"
Appearing on This Morning later on, Joey revealed: "I've nearly lost a finger, a kneecap, a shoulder. I feel ready but there's always room for improvement."
While speaking on GMB, Jayne and Chris discussed Ekin-Su's illness, revealing it is still unclear if she will be able to compete in the first show as she recovers from a fever. Jayne said: "Unfortunately, we just heard she's not feeling well. Hopefully she'll be ready.
"She's been doing well. She's been working as hard as she can."
The Love Island star, 28, took to Twitter on Thursday and told fans that while she hopes she can still compete this weekend, she has been told by doctors to rest. Ekin-Su's boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti made sure he was available to take care of his partner, telling fans on social media that she was 'in good hands.'
Davide, 28, then shared a snap of his girlfriend on his Stories as she attempted to recover in bed, writing: "Someone's home with the fever... in good hands tho."
Dancing On Ice starts Sunday January 15 at 6:30pm on STV.
