Dancing on Ice embroiled in sexism row as fans fume at ‘boring’ all-male final line-up

Dancing on Ice has confirmed its final line-up as the ITV competition aired a brutal double dumping on Sunday evening.

The ITV celebrity talent competition returned for the semi-finals with This Morning stars Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby once again hosting rinkside.

The remaining five celebrities and their partners took to the ice twice as they fought for their places in the climax to the competition, under the watchful eyes of judges Oti Mabuse, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

The Dancing on Ice stars faced their toughest challenge yet, as each delivered two performances in a bid to impress both the judges and viewers at home.

A double elimination was lined up for this weekend’s semi-final, with two celebrities exiting the competition to leave three to take to the ice next weekend and battle it out to bag the Dancing on Ice win.

The two to go were Siva Kaneswaran and Mollie Gallagher, leaving the confirmed finalist line-up of The Vivienne, Joey Essex and Nile Wilson.

However, Dancing on Ice fans at home quickly noticed the finalists were all men - despite The Vivienne being part of the LGBTQ+ community - as they look to social media to complain that neither Siva nor Mollie had been chosen to make the last live show.

One tweeted: “All male final then, how boring,” as another echoed: “I’m sick of the cocky men always reaching the final, Mollie deserves better.”

“Siva deserved to be in that final. I said what I said,” another cheered as a fellow fan wrote: “Joey has been great I just would have preferred it if Siva was in the final.”

Another concluded: “So the Judges got their 3 choices for the Final. All male celebs too. Would be so much better with public favourites Mollie & Siva there.”

The three stars to land in the skate-off were Siva and Mollie alongside Joey Essex – who ultimately went through to the final next weekend when all four judges chose him to save.

Reflecting on her time on the show, Corrie star Mollie told Holly and Phil: "It's truly been the best experience. It's everything I thought I couldn't do and I literally got to the semi-final."

Turning to her partner Sylvain Longchambon, she said the professional skater had been 'amazing' as the pair shared a hug.

She said: "He's the most patient and talented person. Truly the best experience."

Siva said: "I did what I needed to do on the show. I've come in here, I've celebrated my family, my friends, Tom and I'm just so happy and proud of all of us for doing so well."

Dancing on Ice continues Sunday, 6:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
