Dancing on Ice audience spark complaints minutes into ITV show's return as viewers distracted

ITV viewers tuning into last night's premiere of Dancing on Ice 2023 were left with complaints rather than praise just minutes into the show - with most viewers irked by the same thing.

Viewers took to social media to air their grievances just minutes into the popular show, just after it kicked off for it's prime time spot at 6.30pm.

The 11 featuring celebrity contestants took to the ice in shimmering yellow and pink costumes for a group dance, as the opener of the 2023 series played out, soaring around to Whitney Houston's I Want to Dance With Somebody alongside their professional partners.

And while it was spectacle to behold, the Liverpool Echo reports not everyone was pleased with regards to the usually on-point production of the ITV staple. Complaining viewers all seemed to be distracted by the noise levels coming from the live in-house audience, through clapping and cheering alike - calling for them to be toned down slightly.

One Twitter user, wrote: "The audience is louder than the track. They were dancing to squealing and whooping. #dancingonice," while another, penned: "#DancingOnIce three minutes in and the bloody audience with their whooping and clapping are seriously p****** me off!"

A third, added: "Why does #dancingonice #DancingOnIce have to be so shouty? Screaming audience and loud professionals won't make it a better show," while a fourth, complained: "If the audience would tone it down a notch that would be amazing!"

The first six of 11 celebrities took to the ice this week, with the remaining stars set to skate next week.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield returned as hosts while Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean resumed their roles as judges on the ice panel, alongside dancers Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse.
