Dancing on Ice 2022: How Connor Ball shot to fame with boy band The Vamps

One of the stars set to appear on this week's Dancing on Ice is a boy band heartthrob who rose to fame with The Vamps.

As we head into week two of the show Connor Ball is set to make his debut on the ice rink on Sunday, January 23, along with his professional skating partner, Alexandra Shauman.

He'll be hoping to impress the judges this weekend, but he's admitted he already feels nervous ahead of the show.

He told the Radio Times: "I'm scared to drop my partner. Just throwing out the scariest thing for me.

"There's a few lifts in our first routine and I think of everything that's going to be the one thing I'm going to be really struggling with if anything goes wrong."

Who is Connor Ball?

The 25-year-old plays the bass guitar and sings with band The Vamps.

The band formed in 2012 and had major success with two number one albums. Some of their biggest hits include Wild Heart, Last Night and Somebody to You, a song recorded with Demi Lovato.

After posting a series of cover videos on YouTube, Connor was the last band member to be asked to join The Vamps.

He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, but following the separation of his parents, he moved to England with his mum and younger brother, Lewis.

The band is still together, but they did take a break a couple of years back because they were worried about getting bored and burning out.

The Vamps most recent album was called 'Cherry Blossom', and it was released in October 2020.

Connor's bandmate, James McVey, finished in fifth place on the 2018 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!

What has he said about appearing on the show?

When it was confirmed Connor would be appearing on the show, he predicted he'll probably leave with a few scrapes from falling on the ice.

He wrote on Twitter: "There is no way I'm coming out of this with no injury, but I'm doing Dancing on Ice. Excited. Scared. Nervous."

He later joked: "Please don't tell me to break a leg, because I actually will."

As well as this, he confessed on Instagram that he has never had any dance experience, saying: "I’ve never danced in my life but I’m going to have to learn some moves."
