The Olympic opening ceremony faced potential disruption as hundreds of dancers threatened to strike over pay issues. However, a resolution was reached on Wednesday as the dancers called off their strike after reaching an agreement with Paris 2024, as confirmed by the FSA-CGT union.
The union received a final offer from Paris 2024 and employers, which included an increase in payment for broadcasting performance rights for all dancers involved. This offer came after approximately 220 dancers halted a rehearsal along the Seine on Monday to protest disparities in pay and housing conditions among the dancers.
While the union acknowledged that the outcome was not a complete victory, they stated that certain demands were met, particularly addressing the concerns of the most vulnerable dancers. This development averted a potential crisis for the Olympic opening ceremony and ensured that the dancers could participate without further disruptions.
