Dan Walker shows his face is ‘coming on nicely’ after bloody bike accident

Dan Walker has shown that his face has almost fully healed in just over a week since his horrific bike accident.

In his latest post on Twitter, the actor, 45, shared a snap of himself and looked a far cry from his previous injured, battered and bruised appearance, moments after the accident.

Smiling in the snap as he posed with his dog Winnie, the former BBC broadcaster’s swollen face, which was also bloody and yellowed just days ago, looked almost back to normal.

“She’s much happier than she looks, and smells gorgeous,” he said about Winnie, before adding: “Face coming on nicely. Hopefully back in business soon. Thanks for all your lovely messages.”

Walker had been rushed to hospital on February, 20, and later revealed that he’d been involved in a horrible collision on the road, in which he was knocked off his e-bike by a car.

He said at the time that he was “glad to be alive” and shared a series of images of his bloodied face while sitting in the back of an ambulance.

Walker, who works for Channel 5, tweeted: “Bit of an accident this morning. Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike.

“Face is a mess but I don’t think anything is broken.

“Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene. This is me smiling. Thankful for our NHS.”

He later hit back at naysayers who insisted that bike helmets “aren’t important".

He tweeted: “It’s odd to get lectured by people telling me that bike helmets aren’t important...

“The emergency services at the scene yesterday told me I probably wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t wearing one.

Walker continued: “Funny old world! I hope you’re having a good Tuesday. Soup through a straw for lunch.”

In the days since, he has been sharing regular updates about his health and pictures of his healing face with his followers.
