Dan Walker has raised concerns for his former colleague Huw Edwards and the presenter's family, after he was revealed by his wife, to be the BBC presenter at the centre of 'sexual pictures' allegations, in what Dan described as 'an awful situation.'
Since it was reported last week that a then unnamed big name BBC star had allegedly paid £35,000 for sexual images from a a now 20-year-old starting from when they were 17, something denied by the youngster themselves; the broadcaster had come under increasing pressure to mount a full investigation as employees including Radio 2 DJ Jeremy Vine, called on the suspended host in question to identify themselves, as others were being wrongly linked to the accusations.
And on Wednesday night it was Huw's other half, Vicky Flint, that released a statement to confirm it was the respected broadcaster in the middle of the scandal, saying she was speaking out to protect Huw and their children and adding that the news reader was in currently receiving care in hospital.

The Metropolitan Police have too put out a statement, declaring that they had concluded their investigations and 'determined there is no information to indicate that a criminal offence has been committed.
Several high profile TV stars have issued public reactions to the news about Huw and one quick to post online was Dan, former BBC Breakfast anchor and Football Focus host, who took to Twitter to write: "This is an awful situation & will come as a big shock to many. Huw Edwards is clearly not in a good place at the moment and this must be terrible for his family. I just hope that whoever needs help - on all sides of this - gets the time, space & support they need to heal."
