Dan Walker has revealed that he has been unable to sleep after he was struck by a car while riding his bike.
The Channel 5 presenter, 45, said he feels lucky to be alive after the horrendous accident on Monday.
The TV presenter's face was left covered in blood and his nose left totally swollen, with the very near miss left his fans horrified.
Dan uploaded a number of photos of himself in the back of ambulance to Twitter before the former BBC star praised the NHS for quickly coming to his aid but said he hadn't broken any bones after smashing into the ground.
Despite not being able to sleep after the accident, Dan has used the time where he should be getting some shut eye to read and respond to the thousands of supportive messages he has received from fans wishing him a speedy recovery.
Following his scare, Dan has gushed over how moved he feels by the outpouring of support for him.
In a new update, Dan suspected that his lack of sleep might have been down to the amount of medication that he has been put on to ease the pain.
"Can’t sleep… too many drugs I think. Just reading through some of the 1000s of messages today. Thank you so much. It’s so kind of you all. If my eyes weren’t so swollen I might have a little cry. Thank you," the star shared.
It comes after Dan shared the details of his accident alongside several pictures of his bloodied face.
"Bit of an accident this morning. Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike. Face is a mess. I don’t think anything is broken," he penned.
“Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene. Thankful for our NHS.
“It happened in Sheffield on the way to the train station. I think I got hit by a car but was out cold for about 20 minutes. I have no memory of it. “I can’t believe I haven’t broken anything or that it is so much worse.
"I came round on the tarmac with paramedics and police standing over me. I’m very thankful to still be here and just have a beast of a headache," Dan added.
Dan, who lives in Sheffield, cycles to train stations to get to the TV studio in London.
The TV star announced he was joining Channel 5 from BBC Breakfast in April last year.
He also previously presented the BBC’s Saturday morning sports show Football Focus, and appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, finishing fifth with partner Nadiya Bychkova.
