Dan Walker forgets to set alarm for last ever Wednesday on BBC Breakfast

Dan Walker has revealed he forgot to set his alarm for his last ever Wednesday on BBC Breakfast. The presenter is leaving the programme after six years next week to move to Channel 5 News.

The 45-year-old admitted it was the first time it had ever happened to him as he thanked his body clock for waking him up, despite rising 45 minutes too late. Dan shared the awkward mishap on Twitter, telling followers: "My last ever Wednesday on #BBCBreakfast and guess what? I forgot to set my alarms for the first time in 6 years.

"Thankfully the body clock kicked in and I wasn't too late. I hope you can join us today."

Dan then discussed the fail with his co-presenter Sally, explaining: "This is my last ever Wednesday on this programme, and guess what happened today for the very first time? I forgot to set any alarms."

"You've gone already, you're on the beach aren't you?" Sally joked.

Dan continued: "I was a bit late today, but thankfully on time. The body clock kicked in but I woke up about 45 minutes too late."

"How did you forget to set an alarm?" Sally quizzed, before teasing: "Too relaxed?"

Dan's last day on the show is Tuesday, May 17. He announced in April he was quitting the red sofa for a new adventure.

In a video message posted at the time, Dan said: "Hello, it's Dan here. I have a little bit of news for you. In the next few weeks, I'm going to be leaving BBC Breakfast and moving to 5 News and Channel 5.

"I'm really excited, but this has also been a massive decision for me because I love BBC Breakfast, I love working alongside Sally [Nugent] and I love the team there. But Channel 5 came with big ambitions, with big plans and I don't think opportunities like this come round very often. I can't wait."

BBC Breakfast continues weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
