Dan Walker has revealed that he's been left unable to use his hand properly since coming off his bike on Monday after colliding with a car.
The former BBC Breakfast anchor, 45, has taken to social media to update fans on his condition after previously explaining that his helmet had saved his life.
Dan had been cycling from his home in Sheffield towards the train station on Monday morning when he was hit by a car on one of the city's busiest roundabouts.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star has shared some of the outpourings of love he has received on social media with a local restaurant delivering food to him and a pre-made food company delivering his dinner.
Taking to Instagram in view of his 279,000 followers, Dan shared a snap of his food alongside the caption: "I was just thinking about tea but can't do much with my left hand at the minute so these babies have arrived just at the right time," alongside a red heart emoji.
Dan also revealed that his beloved dog Winnie was taking care of him on the sofa as he was flooded with gifts including flowers and a pair of new trousers following his ordeal.
In a statement following the accident, Dan said: "Bit of an accident this morning. Glad to be alive after getting hit by a car on my bike. Face is a mess. I don't think anything is broken.
"Thanks to Shaun and Jamie for sorting me out and the lovely copper at the scene. Thankful for our NHS.
"It happened in Sheffield on the way to the train station. I think I got hit by a car but was out cold for about 20 minutes. I have no memory of it, I can't believe I haven’t broken anything or that it is so much worse.
"I came round on the tarmac with paramedics and police standing over me. I'm very thankful to still be here and just have a beast of a headache."
Since the incident which left him unconscious, Dan has been taking strong painkillers to help his body recover but couldn't help but gush over the NHS staff who treated him in hospital.
The Channel 5 anchor said he still has no memory of the incident before adding his helmet "saved his life".
In a statement, a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: "No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
