The Washington Commanders are officially being sold. It was announced on Friday that Dan Snyder and a partnership group led by Josh Harris have agreed to a deal for the sale of the team. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
It was previously reported that Harris’ group was expected to purchase the team but no deal was officially agreed to, thus leaving other interested buyers in the running. Ultimately, the Commanders will be sold to the Harris group, which includes Mitch Rales, David Blitzer and NBA legend Magic Johnson.
Harris also owns the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, so he’s now adding a Washington team to his portfolio.
Snyder was previously seeking $6 billion for the sale of the Commanders, so the purchase price is expected to be in that range.

Snyder owned the franchise since purchasing it in 1999 for $800 million, which at the time was the most expensive transaction for an American sports team.
