Dan Biggar receives moving ovation for leading Wales to victory with one leg after wild scenes on final whistle

If anyone were in doubt of exactly what Wales' thrilling 20-17 Six Nations win over Scotland meant to their team and, in particular, captain Dan Biggar, they need only watch the reaction from the replacements bench at the final whistle.

Making his 100th Test appearance, the skipper played a major role in his side's first victory of the 2022 Six Nations. He scored a crucial drop goal at 70 minutes to give Wales a three-point cushion, before the hobbling fly-half eventually left the field just moments from time after struggling with a knee injury for much of the game.

Wales held firm in the face of 19 phases of Scottish attacking in the final play to claim a hugely important victory, causing the bench to explode with jubilance. Biggar can be seen fist-pumping and embracing Wyn Jones on the sidelines after the win was certified.

Then, following the match, there was a moving moment as Biggar received a huge ovation during his post-game interview.

Biggar's comment that this was one of his best victories in a Wales shirt was met with rapturous applause from the Principality Stadium, causing the sipper to pause for a few moments to take it all in.

"For me, this is one of my best victories in a Welsh shirt," he said.

"That says it all. It's been a really difficult week.

"We've had to put up with a lot of flak, and rightly so.

"But to come back here with this crowd, put on a show like that, just grind a result out, just roll our sleeves up, it's one of my best victories in my 100.

"This team, if it's anything it's resilient and knows how to hit back from a poor performance."

As for the knee injury - strapped with ice and cling film - which visibly caused him discomfort for much of the second half, Biggar said: "It was just about manageable, really. I didn't want to give in until the end. Hopefully a couple of days rest now and I'm back at it. We've got a huge game in Twickenham to look forward to."
