The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards kicked off with a dose of humor and nostalgia as the father-son duo, Dan and Eugene Levy, took on the hosting duties for the evening. The pair, known for their roles in the hit series 'Schitt's Creek,' joked about their lack of experience as hosts, quipping that they were 'more like actors acting like hosts.'

Dan Levy, who starred alongside his father in 'Schitt's Creek,' mentioned that this was the first time they had worked together since the show ended in 2020. Eugene Levy, known for his iconic dad roles in movies and TV shows, humorously declared that his best 'dad role' was in 'Schitt's Creek' as it earned him his first Emmy.

During their opening monologue, the Canadian-bred actors poked fun at the typical award show etiquette, promising not to cut off winners during their acceptance speeches. Eugene Levy jokingly advised winners to keep their speeches short, especially if they planned on sharing anything meaningful, emotional, or political.

'Schitt's Creek,' which aired from 2015 to 2020, featured a talented ensemble cast including Catherine O'Hara, Annie Murphy, Emily Hampshire, and Noah Reid. The series garnered a total of nine Emmy wins, with five of those awards coming in 2020 for its final season. Dan Levy, Eugene Levy, O'Hara, and Murphy all secured wins in their respective acting categories, and the show itself was honored with the award for Best Comedy.

The Levys' hosting gig at the Emmys not only brought laughter and wit to the ceremony but also served as a heartwarming reunion for fans of 'Schitt's Creek' who continue to celebrate the show's legacy and impact on the television landscape.
