Damien Hirst’s son uses seizures to help inspire his art

DAMIEN HIRST’S son Cassius, 22, has quit drink and drugs following two related seizures. “I had a seizure after a heavy weekend,” the budding artist told us.

“I was in my last year or two of school and I left to go to the shop to do some photography. I was feeling rocky, and then dropped down. It was like full-on, proper heavy stuff.” He had the same reaction at his 18th birthday party. “After that I stopped drinking… doing any drugs, and ended up just working.”

His brain scans from the period helped inspire his spray-painted trainer collection with Prada, which he celebrated in their Old Bond Street shop last night. As well as some obvious sales nous, has he learnt creative lessons from his dad too? “I think not really… in terms of learning about art.”

McCoy: Daniels was courageous

FORMER champion jump jockey AP McCoy, OBE, hopes Blackpool footballer Jake Daniels coming out could lead the way for jockeys too. “It’s very courageous,” he told us. “I’d hope to think that if a young lad wanted to come out that it wouldn’t bother him.” There are currently no gay professional UK jump jockeys. Fear of public abuse could be part of the problem. “[Daniels will] have to accept there will be times he will have a bad day and someone will shout you gay this or that” he says. “But that’s just life and sport in general.”

Prada and Pyjamas

GIRLS about town Mia Regan, Edie Liberty Rose and Emma Winder tried citrus cocktails at Prada, Old Bond Street, last night. Models Kelvin Bueno and Kai-Isaiah Jamal clinked glasses with singer Connie Constance. At 180 The Strand, Copenhagen brand Stine Goya hosted a silk pyjama party, while Brooke Shields and Laura, Countess of Burlington, fled London for Chatsworth. Bird in Hand wine laid on the rosé, as a string quartet blasted Kylie Minogue, and supper was served in the Grand Dining Room.
