Dami Hope has shared his thoughts on who he believes will replace Laura Whitmore as the new host of Love Island, following her shock departure from the ITV2 show.
The TV personality, 37, started hosting the hit show back in 2020 but recently left fans reeling when she announced she had stepped down from her role as presenter.
A range of stars have been tipped to take over from Laura, including this year's winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu. Tasha Ghouri, Maya Jama and Rylan Clark are also in the running.
Dami, 26, gushed about Laura, describing her as an "amazing" presenter and has now revealed who he thinks would be perfect to take over from her.
"Probably Maya Jama, Demi Isaac or Maura Higgins. If Maura did it, I think she’d be so good at it. She’d probably give the boys s*** for Casa Amor though," Dami told Goss.ie.
Laura recently made a veiled critique of Love Island bosses, claiming she wasn’t allowed to check on the wellbeing of the Islanders. She also said she felt powerless to voice an opinion regarding anything she felt was unacceptable.
Laura told The Sunday Times : “I hate having anything I'm not allowed to say. I couldn't ask Love Islanders if they were okay.
“It is hard. Your face is the front of the show but I am one tiny person and have no producing role so I couldn't say if I didn't think something was okay."
She added: "I question things a lot, even if I don't do it publicly, people would rather I didn't. It's difficult doing that when you work on the show."
Laura’s comments come after the latest series received a host of Ofcom complaints of misogyny and bullying, prompting ITV to promise a review of the series once filming had wrapped.
Laura has since announced her next plans and she is set to front a new three-part series for ITV titled Laura Whitmore Investigates.
The series will see her explore "the worlds where sex and power collide," delving into "edgy, difficult worlds".
She announced the news on Instagram, writing: "It’s a dream come true to have this platform and work with a brilliant team at ITV through this series of investigative films.
"Getting back to my journalist roots, I hope we can shine a light on some really important topics and issues and delve into a variety of serious and interesting real-life subjects."
