Several flights departing and arriving at Canberra Airport have been cancelled as several states are battered by wild weather.
Flights departing for Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide have been delayed; while several departing Melbourne and Sydney have been cancelled.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning for the ACT on the second day of spring.
Wind was recorded at 50kmh at Canberra Airport, with a gust reaching 85kmh about noon.
This was the strongest gust recorded from midnight until 1pm on Monday.

"A strong westerly flow over southeast Australia will peak over NSW and ACT as an embedded low moves out of Bass Strait and an associated cold front crosses southern to central parts of NSW during the day," the bureau said.
Emergency Services ACT received 25 callouts from midnight September 2 until just after 11am.
Of those, 11 have already been completed.
The ESA said that "over the weekend we've seen very windy conditions across the territory with wind speeds reaching 50-60kmh. Many of these jobs are for damage resulting directly from the wind, such as:
- Limbs falling off tress.
- Trees falling on roads.
- Damage to private property such as roofs and veranda.
Crews from the ACT State Emergency Service and ACT Fire & Rescue are busy responding to these incidents as quickly as possible."
They also responded to 11 calls on Sunday.
The National Gallery of Australia closed the Sculpture Garden to the public on Monday morning due to high winds.
"It is windy," the gallery posted to social media.
"Please take care in the area. Our beautiful garden is full of exquisite trees, but please enjoy them from a distance today."
Canberrans took to social media on Monday with stories of car doors being slammed into other vehicles.
Others warned that pets could escape from backyards when fences are opened by wind.
Sustained winds of 81kmh with 120kmh gusts had been recorded at Thredbo on Sunday morning.
Winds have also battered parts of NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.
A 63-year-old woman died from a fallen tree at a holiday park in Moama, on the NSW and Victoria border, in the early hours of Monday.
About 121,000 Victorians were disconnected from power just before 11am.
Fire bans are in place in parts of the Illawarra, the South Coast and Sydney.
