Damaged Society closing down in Newcastle's Eldon Square for bigger city venue

A Newcastle city centre store that is popular with shoppers looking for unique fashion is set to close.

Damaged Society (DMG SCY) has confirmed that it will be permanently shutting its store in Eldon Square so it can move to a "bigger and better unit" in the city.

Huge signs have been placed in the window of the store confirming its imminent closure and offering shoppers major discounts. Signs state that "all stock must go" before it relocates to its new premises in the city.

The chain, which has branches across the UK including Manchester and Cardiff, informed shoppers of its plans to move in a post on its Facebook page which said: "Closing down sale in our Newcastle store! They are moving to a bigger and even better unit, pop in to get some major discounts."

Commenting on the post, a number of Newcastle shoppers reacted with relief at the news that Damaged Society would be remaining in the city.

One said: "Oooooh we were sad on Saturday, but a bigger and better store yaaaay!" While another added: "It was too small, can't wait."

Damaged Society is yet to reveal where the new store will be located and has not responded to Chronicle Live's request for comment. Eldon Square said it did not yet have any confirmed information regarding the store.

Damaged Society sells a range of clothing and accessories from brands including Dr. Martens and Vans, as well as a variety of "brand merch" including My Chemical Romance, Nirvana and Blink 182 items.

The chain has been trading for 10 years since launching in Derby with the aim to offer customers brands and merchandise they couldn't find anywhere else on the high street. It now has 13 stores across the UK.
