Dalvin Cook Hints at Potential Team-Up With Fellow Pro Bowl Free Agent

Running back Dalvin Cook and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins have more in common than you might think. Both played collegiately in the ACC for teams that made major bowl games during their tenures—Cook for Florida State, Hopkins for Clemson. Both have made four or more Pro Bowls.

Now, both find themselves free agents at the ages of 27 and 31, respectively. Their concurrent availability has Cook thinking about a potential collaboration, something he expressed to ESPN's Adam Schefter on his podcast on Monday.

“If we end up on the same roster, that would be something epic for the NFL,” Cook told Schefter. “When I been with D-Hop, we done chill together. … I want to go win. Like I said, the money gonna come and that’s going to happen. But like as far as going to lift that [Vince Lombardi] Trophy up, he got the same mindset as me.”

Neither Cook nor Hopkins have made it to the Super Bowl in their combined 16 seasons, Cook with the Vikings and Hopkins with the Texans and Cardinals.

Minnesota released Cook, a second-round pick in the 2017 draft and the franchise's third all-time leading rusher, on June 9. Arizona severed ties with Hopkins on May 26, a little over three years after acquiring him from Houston; since then, the receiver has visited the Titans and Patriots.
