Dalton Kincaid was painfully close to catching Josh Allen’s desperation pass on fourth down

The Buffalo Bills have lived a nightmarish existence whenever they encounter the Chiefs in the playoffs. And Sunday’s AFC Championship Game turned to be — once again — another chapter in Patrick Mahomes’ January dominance over Josh Allen.

But really, the Bills were so close to turning their luck around. It just slipped through the hands of Dalton Kincaid.

With the Bills down three and facing fourth and five, Allen was forced to scramble as Kansas City brought the blitz. In a desperation heave, Allen threw off balanced down field and just hoped for the best. The pass fell incomplete, but lost in the mayhem was just how close Kincaid was to catching the ball.

And another look:

It wouldn’t have been an easy catch, but Kincaid was right there to make a play — he just came up short. Had he made that catch, the Bills would have been looking at first down and already in field goal range. Instead, it’s the Chiefs heading to New Orleans in search of a third straight Super Bowl title.
