Police are hunting an “angry” knifeman who attacked an Overground passenger after “pushing him to get on the train” at Dalston Kingsland station.
The victim was attacked by one of a group described as “angry” as they boarded a train at 9pm on Saturday.
A witness told the Standard: “I only saw the man being attached to a stretcher and carried out of the station. There were two women who stayed on the platform and were questioned by the police after coming to his aid.”
He added:“[The victim] said the guy who stabbed him was just really angry and pushed him to get on the train.
“The knife did reach his liver, but thankfully it wasn’t too deep and he should make a full recovery.”
Detectives believe the attack to be isolated with no gang-related links.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “On Saturday 24th September 2022 at approximately 20:53 hours a male was stabbed inside Dalston Kingsland station following a verbal altercation with another male on Platform 2 within the station.
“The suspect was part of a group that then fled the station.
“The incident is being investigated as a GBH by colleagues from the British Transport Police.”
