It is a tough blow for the Dallas Stars and forward Tyler Seguin. The 32-year-old forward, who has scored 20 points this season, is on injured reserve. He will undergo surgery on Thursday on his left hip and is expected to be out for 4-6 months. At this point, no one is calling it season-ending.
Dallas Stars GM Jim Nill called it a “wear and tear injury” that Seguin has been dealing with for some time. Nill admitted that it is unfortunate because he is off to “probably the second-best start he’s ever had in his career.”

Tyler Seguin Rebounds Well From Injuries
Seguin played three games in the 2020-2021 season. He had surgery on the right hip and his knee. Last season, he missed 11 games with a lower-body injury.
Nill is confident that Seguin will be back and better than ever because he has already dealt with hip surgery.
Seguin played the full 82 games three times in his 15-year career. He played 81 games twice and 80 games once.
Dallas Stars 2024-2025 Season
The Stars are 16-8 and in third place in a very competitive Central Division led by the surging Minnesota Wild and the Winnipeg Jets who have faltered of late.
Riding a three game winning streak, the Stars are virtually unbeatable at home. Only two of their eight losses came at home.
The Stars dealt the Jets a 3-1 loss on December 1 and face the Minnesota Wild at home on December 27.
This team has big ambitions to build on what happened last year. The Stars are vying for back-to-back Central Division titles. Last season, Stars advanced to the Western Conference finals losing to the Edmonton Oilers.
Tyler Seguin, the second overall pick of the Boston Bruins in the 2010 NHL draft, was a key part of that Stars playoff push scoring five goals and eight assists in 19 games played.
