Dallas Stars Fans Halt Game 3 Loss by Throwing Trash Onto the Ice

If you’ve ever been to a hockey game, you’ve likely seen fans throw something onto the ice. Whether it’s hats or various forms of aquatic life, the act can be fairly commonplace given the right situation.

Typically, such acts are markers of celebration among home fans. But that was not the case in the slightest for Stars fans on Tuesday night.

Facing a 2–0 series deficit against the Golden Knights in the Western Conference Final, Dallas fans entered Game 3 already frustrated after dropping the first two games of the series in overtime. Tuesday’s game provided no respite; the Stars fell behind, 3–0, in the first period, then gave up another goal in the second.

As the period came to the close, fans were unable to wait until intermission to show their displeasure, heaving trash onto the ice that caused the second period to be cut short with 21 seconds left on the clock.

It was an ugly scene, to be sure, and the game did not improve from there for the Stars. Las Vegas closed things out with a 4–0 final score to take a commanding series lead and move one win away from a return to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Stars will look to extend their season in Game 4 on Thursday, and they’ll surely hope for a bit more support from their home fans if they’re to make it to Game 5.
