Police in the Dallas Metroplex have apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in a recent home invasion incident. Manuel Hernandez-Hernandez, 28, was arrested in Colleyville and is currently in custody at the Dallas County Jail on an immigration hold.
The incident occurred on September 21 when a woman arrived at her Dallas residence and was confronted by four unidentified men. The men, armed with a gun, forced her into her home, tied her up, and threatened her in an attempt to locate her safe. They made away with over $75,000 in cash, along with other valuables from her home.
The victim managed to escape and seek help from a neighbor after the perpetrators left. Investigators found fingerprints belonging to Hernandez-Hernandez at the crime scene, linking him to the robbery. However, the victim was unable to identify any of the suspects from a police lineup.
Despite social media speculation linking the suspects to a gang from Venezuela, authorities have clarified that there is no concrete evidence supporting this claim. The Dallas Police Department emphasized that the case is still under investigation and there is no confirmation of any gang affiliation at this time.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has previously targeted the alleged gang in question, designating them as a foreign terrorist organization. However, no direct connection has been established between Hernandez-Hernandez and the mentioned gang.
The authorities are continuing their efforts to gather more information and bring all individuals involved in the home invasion to justice. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any relevant details that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
