Dallas Goedert has high praise for Travis Kelce but knows he’s right up there with Chiefs TE

Travis Kelce is the best tight end on the planet, but Sunday’s Super Bowl offers Dallas Goedert the opportunity to stake his claim to the throne.

With Philadelphia vanquishing George Kittle and the 49ers, Goedert and the Eagles advanced to the big game, allowing the former South Dakota State star to join the younger Kelce brother on the main stage.

While making the rounds with the media, Goedert had high praise for Kelce, but let it be known that he’s on par as a player.

“I don’t care if it’s blocking or catching the football or whatever,” he said on Tuesday, “my job is to do my job and to do it well. I’m excited about that. I know that Travis Kelce is the guy who is the All-Pro. He’s the best tight end in the game. I know I’m right up there, so it’s going to be fun to show everybody what I can do.

“I’m treating this like any other game. I always want to do what I can do to help the team win, so that’s the mindset I will have for this game. It’s obviously a higher stage, but it’s just another game, so I’m going to keep my routine pre-game, pre-week the same as I can and hopefully when kickoff when kickoff comes and get that first pop in my pads, that everything just falls back and feels like football again.”

Goedert was on track to be an All-Pro prior to Week 10, leading NFL tight ends in yards and yards after the catch prior to his shoulder injury suffered in the November 14 loss to Washington.

He finished the regular season with 55 receptions for 702 yards and three touchdowns while logging 10 catches for 81 yards and a score in the playoff wins over New York and San Francisco.
