Dallas Cowboys Shut Down Ceedee Lamb Due To Injury

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (88) jogs to the sideline after making a catch inthe first half of an NFL football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Arlington, Texas, Sunday, Dec. 22,

The Dallas Cowboys have made the decision to sideline star receiver CeeDee Lamb for the remaining two games of the season due to a sprained right shoulder that has been bothering him since the second half of the season. The team announced that Lamb will not be playing in the upcoming games against Philadelphia and Washington after further examinations revealed significant damage to his shoulder. Fortunately, surgery is not deemed necessary at this time.

This unfortunate development comes after the Cowboys were eliminated from playoff contention just before their recent victory over Tampa Bay. The team will now conclude the regular season with several key players, including Lamb, on injured reserve. Quarterback Dak Prescott, right guard Zack Martin, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, and cornerback Trevon Diggs are among the notable names who have been sidelined due to various injuries.

Lamb, who sustained the shoulder injury during a game against Atlanta in early November, continued to play through the pain and managed to put up impressive numbers in his last two games before being shut down. Despite missing the entire offseason and preseason due to a contract dispute, Lamb signed a lucrative extension in late August. However, he was unable to replicate his stellar performance from the previous season, where he set career highs in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns.

Examinations reveal significant damage, surgery not required at this time.

The 25-year-old receiver concludes the season with 101 catches for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns. The Cowboys, with a record of 7-8, will miss the playoffs for the first time since Lamb's rookie year in 2020. It has been a challenging season for Dallas, dealing with multiple injuries to key players and falling short of postseason aspirations.

Despite the setbacks, the Cowboys will look to finish the season on a positive note and regroup for the upcoming offseason to address their injury concerns and prepare for a stronger campaign next year.
