Dalbeattie Star Ladies recorded their first ever competitive win on Sunday.
The team was set up last year and will be taking part in the West and South region of the Scottish Women’s Football League in the coming season, which starts later this month.
But before then they have a number of League Cup group games and at the weekend they won 3-2 at Nithsdale Wanderers ladies.
The result was revenge for Nithsdale’s 3-1 win in Dalbeattie last month, a game that was the first competitive match for both clubs.
Dalbeattie Star ladies was set up last year – the first time in more than 100 years the club has had an official women’s team. They are currently the only women’s side in the Stewartry.
After playing a series of friendlies last year, they have moved on to competitive fixtures in 2022 and take on Annan Athletic at Dalbeattie High School in the League Cup on Sunday.
Their first league game is against United Glasgow on Sunday, March 27 with their first home league game against Drumchapel United the following week.
