A little bit of Christmas cheer is being delivered to hard-pressed families in Dalbeattie today.
Dalbeattie Food Bank is organising the distribution of more than 30 festive hampers to households around the town.
Each box contains a full Christmas dinner and other goodies to help lighten up what are bleak times for many.
Co-ordinator Donna McKnight said: “We are doing a secret Santa for folk as well. People have been handing in gifts for it throughout the month.
“This has been the most donations we have ever had. Last year we did 18 Christmas hampers but this year we are doing 31.
“The generosity of local people has been amazing this year both for secret Santa and food donations. This year the hampers have been funded by the Ruth and Bert Dunn Trust.
“They were a local couple who passed away and left a lot of money to the town.
“The trust kindly donated £1,000 which has made it possible for us to do 31 hampers this year.”
The foodbank linked up with local butchers TH Carson who supplied the food hampers.
