In a recent interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Dakota Johnson revealed some less-than-pleasant memories of her time on the set of the hit television show, The Office. Despite being a fan of the show, Johnson described her experience filming the final episode as 'the worst time' of her life.
Johnson, known for her role in the Fifty Shades series and now set to star in the upcoming Madame Web film, shared that she had eagerly agreed to appear in the series finale, expecting a brief cameo. However, she ended up being on set for two weeks and had limited screen time.
Speaking about the atmosphere on set, Johnson mentioned that there were some tense dynamics among the cast that had existed for the show's entire ten-year run. She revealed that some cast members didn't speak to each other, creating an awkward environment for her as a newcomer.
Recounting her experience, Johnson humorously described herself as 'in the background of all these scenes, faxing things.' She joked about the authenticity of her background acting skills, to which Seth Meyers playfully praised her convincing portrayal of faxing.
The Office, which aired from 2005 to 2013 and ran for nine seasons, boasted a star-studded cast including Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak, Ed Helms, and Rainn Wilson.
Interestingly, Johnson had originally appeared on The Office to introduce a potential spinoff that never materialized. Reflecting on that experience in a previous interview, she stated her doubts about the creative success of such a spinoff, expressing the belief that sometimes shows need to end when they are supposed to.
While Johnson's time on the set of The Office may not have lived up to her expectations, fans of the show can now relive the entire series on the streaming platform Peacock. The Office remains a beloved favorite, even if Johnson's experience was less than stellar.
As Dakota Johnson continues to pursue her acting career, it's clear that not every on-set experience is as enjoyable as it may seem. But as for The Office, it seems the cherished sitcom will always hold a special place in the hearts of its devoted fans.
