The Dallas Cowboys closed out their preseason in the most unorthodox fashion.
The team reportedly had quarterback Dak Prescott call plays for the offense rather than offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
Yes, Prescott took on coaching duties rather than playing duties in Dallas’ preseason finale, where quarterback Will Grier had been set to take the starting snaps for the team’s offense.
It’s very uncommon for a team to have a player call all of the plays for one side of the ball, but Prescott got a head start on any future desire to coach in the NFL during Dallas’ last August contest.

Maybe one day, we’ll all look back on Prescott’s illustrious coaching career starting on a random preseason Saturday in 2023.
Everyone has to start somewhere after all, so maybe this is the beginning of a fascinating future for Prescott whenever he decides to throw in the towel for his career. That won’t be for a while we bet, so “Coach Prescott” will probably be a one-time deal for now.
