Yokohama F Marinos are said to be close to completing a deal to sign Takuma Nishimura as a replacement for Celtic bound Daizen Maeda.
Hoops manager Ange Postecoglou is set to return to the Japanese market next month with a raid on his former club.
Summer signing Kyogo Furuhashi has proved to be a huge hit and a deal is believed to be close for Marinos forward Maeda.
The 24-year-old was the top-scorer in the J League last season and, with the campaign at an end, could complete a move to the Premiership shortly after the window opens.
And according to Yahoo Japan, Yokohama F Marinos are on the verge of signing the man who will replace him.
The website reports that Nishimura will make his move from Sendai when the Japanese transfer window opens on January 10.
They note that this is because Maeda "will join Celtic" and his current club need to strengthen for the Asian Champions League.
So far there has been no official confirmation of an agreement, but with Marinos sourcing a replacement it seems a deal is close.
The pacey goalscorer could even arrive in time to face Rangers on January 2, depending on travel restrictions and work permits.
Postecoglou is also believed to be looking at Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi for January.
