Daizen Maeda receives emotional Celtic send off from Yokohama F Marinos fans with Hoops shirt touch of class

Celtic forward Daizen Maeda said his final farewell to the Yokohama F. Marinos after sealing his permanent move to Parkhead.

The Japan international returned to watch the J-League side just days after Celtic triggered their option to buy on is deal.

Having lifted the Scottish Premiership trophy, he was given a hero’s welcome ahead of their clash with Kyoto Sanga.

Video from the Nissan Stadium shows him waving as he's given a standing ovation and cheers from the home support.

He also took a moment to pose with supporters and was snapped holding up his Celtic top in front of the crowd.

The Yokohama support can also be seen in the background holding up the Parkhead kit with Maeda's number 38 on the back.

He watched his former side win 2-0 as they kept up the pressure on the top of the table, sitting in third in the J-League.

Hoops teammate Reo Hatate has earned similar adoration at Kawasaki Frontale, who he left for Glasgow almost six months ago.

He thanked them for his two years there and credited them with some of the early success he's had in green and white.

Maeda has penned a four-year deal at Parkhead after impressing during his initial loan spell under Ange Postecoglou.

The 24-year-old netted eight goals during his six-month stint at Celtic Park and will be hoping to add to his tally in the Champions League next term.
