Celtic star Daizen Maeda has been named a sub for Japan in their crunch World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia.
And that means the striker remarkably has an outside chance to feature against Rangers tomorrow night if he doesn't earn significant game time today.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou admitted on Friday his striker had a slim hope of a stunning return to club action if he didn't earn extended minutes for his country.
The Parkhead manager said: “It’s unlikely. On a manager’s salary, I don’t have a private jet that might be able to get them here. A lot of that will depend on whether they have played.
“I expect Tommy will play most definitely because Australia have a big game. Daizen played on Thursday, so a lot will depend on them playing.
“It’s a possibility, but if they have played the night before, even if we can get them here on time, it’s still hard.”
Celtic are already without Kyogo for the clash with Rangers as Giorgos Giakoumakis is primed to lead the line against the Premiership champions.
