Daizen Maeda Celtic injury update as hopes of facing Hearts in Scottish Cup showdown hang in the balance

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou could be able to call upon the services of Daizen Maeda in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals this weekend - despite him being spotted on crutches.

The Hoops are targeting a domestic Treble as they face off with Hearts for the second time this week on Saturday, with the Scottish Cup the only domestic trophy in Scotland that the Parkhead boss has yet to claim. He can take plenty of confidence from Celtic running out 3-1 winners in the Scottish Premiership despite on home turf, but they will have to do it all again at Tynecastle to secure a return to Hampden.

That game against the Jambos came at a cost to Maeda, who was spotted with walking aids after being subbed off. But it's not likely to be long-term, as he's rated at "50-50" by Postecoglou for the Jambos encounter. His absence would be another winger headache for Postecoglou. James Forrest will be missing after picking up a knock.

Postecoglou said: "It is fair to say he has improved. He didn't train but he has improved and we will see how he is, it's fair to say he's 50-50 for it."
