Two people were taken to hospital after a suspected gas leak on Wednesday afternoon in Dagenham, east London.

Emergency services were called to the property in Boulton Road just before 3.50pm, with firefighters carrying out a sweep to check for elevated gas readings.

However, a London Fire Brigade spokesperson said no unusual levels of gas were found.

Two people were treated at the scene and then taken to hospital, an ambulance spokesperson said.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a smell of gas at a property on Boulton Road in Dagenham.

“Crews carried out a sweep of the property to check for elevated gas readings but found none.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added that they sent ambulance crews, a clinical team manager and members of its hazard area response team.

“We treated two patients at the scene before taking them to hospital,” the spokesperson said.

The incident was declared over shortly before 6pm.
