Dagenham attempted murder: Third person charged as shooting and stabbing victim remains in hospital

A third person has been charged in relation to an attempted murder in Dagenham, east London, that saw a man stabbed and shot.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, being in possession of a pointed/bladed article in a public place and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

The youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at Barkingside Youth Court on Monday having been arrested in Birmingham on Friday.

It relates to an incident in Whalebone Lane South in Dagenham where police were called at around 5.20pm on May 2 to reports that a man had been stabbed.

“Shortly after, a second call was received from a member of the public reporting gunshots heard in the area,” a statement from the Metropolitan Police added.

The 19-year-old victim was found with stab injuries and taken to hospital where it was confirmed he had also been shot. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Previously, two teenagers, both 17, were arrested in Ashford, Kent, on May 10 and were transferred to London for questioning and were later charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Both appeared at Barkingside Youth Court on May 13. They were remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on June 10.

Five men and a woman, aged between 18 and 25 years old, had previously been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They have since been bailed pending further enquiries
