Dad under fire for shouting at woman who constantly calls son by the wrong name

A father is angry with a parent at his son's school for constantly calling his son by a different name, despite knowing what the boy is called. The dad took to a Reddit post to explain that his son is called Robin but the other parent who volunteers at pick-up time will only call him Robert.

The boy's dad explained: "My son's name is Robin. It's just those five letters. It's not a nickname. The mom of one of the kids in his class is convinced his name is Robert. She volunteers at pickup.

"I'll drive up and she'll go to get my son yelling "Robert, Robert!"

The dad went on by saying that he initially brushed this off and thought the parent must be confused as there are a lot of names to remember so thought it was an honest mistake.

However, the other parent continued making the same mistake and the dad was starting to think she was simply not bothering with his real name.

"Last week I saw her at a school function and went up and introduced myself and basically said 'I'm Robin's father'," he said.

"You might recognize me from pickup. By the way, his name isn't Robert."

However, the other parent's reply to this left the dad fuming as she revealed her reasons.

"She said Robin is a girl's name (it's unisex, but it's way more common for boys, so what??) and not a good nickname for Robert, so she'll call him his real name instead," he explained.

"I tried to correct her, since Robin isn't a nickname, but she wandered away. The next time she walked up to my car I got annoyed and said 'I'm here for Robin. R O B I N.' She did it again."

But things went from bad to worse for the dad when he heard the other parent do this again which made him annoyed.

He said: "I asked her what her problem was in a very loud voice. I shouted loud enough that a teacher ran over."

"The volunteer mom ran away, and I tried to explain. The teacher looked at me like I had three heads and said she would go get my son. I got an email later asking me to come in Monday for a meeting."

The dad is now left wandering what to do and questioned if he was being unreasonable and decided to reach out to another parent to see if this was an issue.

He found another parent who has had similar issues with the volunteer parent so the two of them decided to reach out to the school.

In response many have been quick to support the dad with one person saying: "Email back. 'I look forward to meeting with you to discuss volunteer parent bullying my child and an appropriate course of action going forward to prevent this from continuing."

While another said: "I guess this volunteer mother never heard/saw the Disney movie Robin Hood??? Or Robin Williams??? Does she live under a rock??"
