Dad 'traumatised' after DVLA send him logbooks with vile racial slurs

A gym owner was left 'disgusted' and 'traumatised' after receiving two letters from the DVLA laden with racist slurs in the letterhead.

Marvin Greaves, 40, was sent a letter from the DVLA about a car he didn’t own which branded him a a ‘black n***** p**sy’ last week. The dad-of-six then received another logbook from the DVLA yesterday addressed to 'Marvin Chocolate N***** Greaves'.

Marvin, who lives in Oldham, has questioned how they were authorised or allowed to leave the office with such 'disgusting' words on them and has demanded an explanation. The DVLA say they are urgently investigating and that the letters were 'malicious and fraudulent applications' by a third party, which will be passed onto the police.

Marvin said: "I opened the letter and I noticed it was a logbook. On the letterhead, it said 'Marvin Black N***** P**sy'. When I read it, I was traumatised by it. I was very stressed and depressed over it.

"It was an official letter, brown envelope, and it came to my gym address. I'm looking to take this further."

Marvin, who is known in the area for helping young people off the streets, claims he is 'stressed' about the incident and is now questioning how the perpetrator was able to get his details.

Marvin said: "I've been feeling so stressed about it. It's racial. I'm black myself. It's definitely racist and somebody has authorised that for it to be sent to my gym address.

"I was wondering how it could even be sent out. Even if someone's done it online, someone's got to authorise it. I rang up the DVLA and told them I got this logbook. I don't own the vehicle or the registration number and don't know anything about it.

"I said I wasn't too bothered about that but what I was bothered about was what it says on the form. They went quiet and said they'd take me off the system and could I please terminate that paper straight away. I said I wouldn't and I'd put the phone down.

"Someone's got to authorise it and do the checks. It's either a stolen vehicle or someone's been pulled. It's got to be someone who knows me, who knows my address.

"I'm a community advocate for the people in my community. I get them off the streets, I get them into the gym and keep them positive. I sort a lot of problems out in Oldham and I've got a high profile for doing things like that.

Marvin said he felt 'failed' after the letters were able to be sent out, despite being laden with racial slurs (Kennedy News and Media)

"For me receiving this, it's hit rock bottom. The system's failed me by letting this [be sent] out."

On Facebook, Marvin shared details of the letter with others expressing their shock at the ‘absolutely vile’ mail. One user said: "Oh my days mate, this is absolutely vile behaviour. Jealous people mate - don't like that you have gone far in life obviously. Scumbags."

Another added: "Absolutely disgusting. What a stupid thing to even say brain dead d***head. You're black. Be proud of your heritage - not all of us are racist."

A DVLA spokesperson said: "These malicious and fraudulent applications were made by an as yet unknown third party and we have removed this information from our records. We are urgently investigating and will pass our findings onto the police."
