Dad's 'surreal' day with Scarlett Johansson for Amazon job

A dad-of-two has revealed how he managed to work with Scarlett Johansson in the latest Amazon Superbowl advert.

Martin Tighe from Litherland has worked in the advertisement industry for nine years for London based firm Lucky Generals.

The 35-year-old has previously sent off pitches for four Superbowls, creating ideas for the Amazon adverts used at the popular sporting spectacle.

Despite having his four pitches rejected, he continued with partners Gareth Morgan and Joe Mallet to create his fifth go at the advert. This time he was given the thumbs up and wrote the 90-second production.

The advert is available to watch now, starring the Hollywood A-lister and her husband, Colin Jost, but will also air during the Superbowl.

Martin told the ECHO : "For the past five years, me and my partner have been working on a brief together to try and make this happen. Over the last six years, we've tried to make four of Amazon's Superbowl adverts. Finally, me, my partner and another lad had our pitch accepted and they decided to make it.

"We work on a pitch against other teams in the agency, and some other agencies as well. This year we managed to get picked."

Martin described the advert as the "biggest achievement" he and his team have had as they went up against a number of other teams and agencies.

He said: "It's the biggest achievement we've had. There's nothing much bigger than this. We're proud after all this time we managed to get it. We're delighted. It's a great feeling to get it and then go over there and make it."

Martin Tighe, 35, from Litherland wrote Amazon's new Superbowl advert starring Scarlett Johannson (Martin Tighe)

Martin revealed he has done work with Paddy Power, Premier Inn and with boxer Anthony Joshua, but this eclipses the lot.

He said: "It's mad being there and seeing a Hollywood A-lister performing this script that we wrote sat in an office. It is mad seeing them say the words and act out the scenes. It was surreal being in the same space in this house. We're there, and she's just stood over there acting with her husband, who's a writer for Saturday Night Live himself.

"We ended up collaborating with them a bit. We were writing jokes for the ad and sending them over to them and they were sending stuff back. It was quite cool and surreal. It was unbelievable, like how am I connected to this?"
