A four-year-old boy shot a gun at police after being told to by his dad who was being arrested, after a row at a McDonald's drive-thru got out of hand.
The tot who was in the car with his three-year-old sibling was seen holding his little arm out of the car door by police officers.
The row kicked off at the Midvale branch of the fast food restaurant in Utah when the family went to get a meal.
McDonald's staff told officers that the man was upset that his order was wrong and while at the pick up window he started waving a gun around and demanding his food was corrected.
Sheriff Rosie Rivera with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office told reporters the workers asked the man to drive to a vehicle waiting area at the front of the restaurant while they corrected his order.
They then called police who quickly raced to the scene.
The sheriff added that they quickly removed the man from the SUV but were shocked when they heard him instructing the young boy to use the gun against officers.
As they saw the gun emerging from the car being held by a tiny hand, an officer managed to hit the gun as it was being fired, shooting the bullet upward where it hit an overhead awning of the restaurant.
Officers then found the boy with a three-year-old in the back of the family car.
No one was injured in the altercation and the man, who has not been named, was taken into custody.
The children were being looked after by family services.
Officers were not able to confirm if charges were brought against the father.
Sheriff Rivera said: "This campaign against police officers, this needs to stop.
"We're here to protect and serve, and this is getting out of hand.
"This is a child who thought it was okay to pull a firearm and shoot that firearm at police.
"I've never seen anything like this in my 28 years."
