The Seahawks need wide receiver D.K. Metcalf to mature and take on more of a leadership role in 2022 now that Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner are gone. Metcalf took one small step forward in that regard last night.
On Twitter, Metcalf took exception to those slandering Seattle’s newest quarterback, Drew Lock.
Let’s chill on the Drew Lock slander

Some receivers are more QB-dependent, but Metcalf is the kind of playmaker who will get his regardless of who’s throwing him the ball. In the three games Russell Wilon missed last season, Metcalf posted 18 catches, 197 yards and three touchdowns.
Now entering the final year of his rookie contract, Metcalf is expected to sign a massive extension soon that will make him the highest-paid player on the roster.
Davante Adams just signed a five-year deal with the Raiders worth $28.25 million a season. Metcalf won’t get quite that much from Seattle, but somewhere around $25 million per year is a reasonable expectation.
