D’Angelo Russell on maintaining his confidence in win versus the Warriors

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors 145-144 on Saturday in double overtime, and the game was an instant classic. There were many thrills to be had throughout, and the proceedings were very topsy-turvy.

At one point, the Lakers fell behind 88-73 and scored 14 unanswered points to come to within one, only to fall behind by nine in the fourth quarter. The rest of the game was played on even terms, with both teams trading one monster punch after another.

Guard D’Angelo Russell was ice-cold in the first half, but he got warm in the fourth quarter. In the second overtime, he committed two turnovers in quick succession, but he came right back by hitting a 3-pointer in transition with just under a minute left.

After the game, he talked about that sequence and how he kept his composure to help his team win.

Russell finished with 28 points and five assists in 49 minutes. He has been on a heater ever since head coach Darvin Ham put him back in the starting lineup about two weeks ago.
