Cyriel Dessers to Rangers has taken a fresh twist as Michael Beale's men seem unwilling to back down on their pursuit.
The Cremonese forward has taken the interest of Rangers who completed a move for Atalanta forward Sam Lammers as part of four new signings for the summer. But Beale, who lost hitman Alfredo Morelos, is keen to add more attacking firepower with the 28-year-old Serie B striker identified as a target, alongside Feyenoord forward Danilo who boasts an impressive pedigree.
Reports suggested the Light Blues' chase for Dessers had taken a hit over valuation of the player, but now, according to Tutto Mercato Web, Rangers are keen to explore the option of a loan move with an option to buy. Beale had previously hinted at breaking his exception to the no-loan rule with the impending acquisition of Brighton winger Abdallah Sima, but the Gers reportedly might have to follow the same path with Dessers.
The report also states that Cremonese are standing firm, and want a permanent agreement struck. TMW say Rangers will not 'give up' but that negotiations are on 'standby' as the Ibrox side play the waiting game.
