Cyriel Dessers makes Danilo Rangers prediction and offers Ibrox partnership tease

Cyriel Dessers has backed new Rangers recruit Danilo to hit the goal trail this season after completing his £5million switch from Feyenoord.

And the striker is confident he can form a potent partnership with the Brazilian as he continues moving through the gears at Ibrox this summer.

Dessers got more vital match minutes under his belt as Michael Beale's side came from two goals down to earn a pre-season draw with Hoffenheim on Saturday.

The Nigerian was replaced by Danilo for the closing stages in Germany as he made his debut just 24 hours after putting pen-to-paper on a long-term deal with the Light Blues.

Boss Beale has invested heavily in his forward line this summer and he saw Sam Lammers score his second pre-season goal as he nodded home a James Tavernier cross.

A partnership between Dessers and Danilo could be key for Rangers' silverware aspirations this term and the former Cremonese star is enthused by the prospect of more firepower at Ibrox.

Dessers said: “Fitness wise I feel very good. Of course, I came in later and these are my first games in three months because I was injured at the end of the season. My conditioning is good and the data shows that.

“But in terms of the speed of the game and my sharpness, I still feel I need to pick that up. These games are perfect for that.

“When you play at a top club there will always be competition. Danilo and I need to make each other stronger.

“But it could be a partnership. I don’t want to tell everyone the plans of the coach but we could play together.

“He’s a great striker. I played a lot against him in the Netherlands so I know him as a player. I think we could work together.

“I watched a lot of Feyenoord games last season and Danilo will bring goals to Rangers.

“He’s good in combinations and can provide assists as well. Not all strikers can do that but he can."
