Rangers boss Michael Beale has been given a slight setback in his transfer plans amid reports that Cremonese star Cyriel Dessers has decided to snub the Light Blues.
With Alfredo Morelos departing the club on a free transfer after six years of topsy-turvy service, the Colombian has left a gaping hole in the striking options of the Ibrox club which Beale has looked to rectify. That has been done somewhat with the £3.5million capture of Sam Lammers from Atalanta, though it has been noted that he will look to bring one more in - both for firepower and to give Fashion Sakala the freedom of the wings.
But Rangers' plans have been somewhat hit by target Dessers apparently turning a move to Govan down - with the Nigerian likely to either stay at the relegated Serie A club or find a move elsewhere for guaranteed starting time, despite potential European football on the table in Glasgow.
A report by Calciomercato suggests that Dessers have turned a move to the Scottish Premiership down, with the striker 'preferring' to stay in Italy with interest from other clubs such as Torino.
With an exit for Antonio Colak also being mooted, it would be thought that the Croatian would open up room for Dessers to join, giving Rangers the chance to integrate two summer signings into their settled squad.
Dessers finished the season with six goals and two assists, though he did scored 20 goals in just 41 games for Dutch outfit Feyenoord last season.
