Cyprus Covid travel restrictions set to be eased - and latest rules for Spain, Turkey and Greece

Cyprus is set to become the latest country to ease strict Covid travel rules. The UK is currently on Cyprus' red list.

This means that British travellers who are not fully jabbed must take a test before their departure, followed by a PCR test upon their arrival. Travellers must isolate at their accommodation until the result comes back - however this will change on April 18, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The UK Government's latest entry guidelines on Cyprus say: "All travellers are required to complete a Cyprus Flight Pass within 48 hours of departure and should check specific arrival requirements as outlined on the Flight Pass website. The Flight Pass will no longer be required from 18 April."

Currently anyone wishing to enter Cyprus must register for a Flight Pass at least 48 hours before setting off on their journey. From April 18, vaccinated travellers will be able to enter Cyprus without having to take a test.

Unvaccinated travellers must take a test before departure, but will not need a subsequent test on arrival. Another change in Cyprus from April 11 will mean that people will no longer have to wear a face mask in outdoor settings.

People will also no longer need to show a Safe Pass - similar to the NHS Covid Pass - when entering shopping malls, museums, public service premises, or open-air markets and festivals. However, it will be needed for people planning to enter restaurants.

Spain

If you’re fully vaccinated and travelling from the UK, you can enter Spain without needing to test or quarantine regardless of your reason for travel. You'll be asked to show proof of vaccination and your most recent dose must have been administered at least 14 days prior to arrival.

Children under the age of 12 years old do not need to show proof of being fully vaccinated on entry to Spain. Those who aren't fully vaccinated can only enter Spain from the UK for tourism purposes if they can provide a medical certificate certifying recovery from Covid-19 in the six moths prior to travel.

The Spanish government has recently retracted earlier changes which had been announced to their coronavirus travel rules. It was reported that Spain had loosened restrictions and was allowing unvaccinated Brits into the country just in time for the Easter holidays.

But now the Spanish tourist board in London has withdrawn the promise of opening up to unvaccinated British visitors. Just hours after issuing the announcement, travellers were told the information provided was incorrect.

The announcement resulted from an error of interpretation of the official state bulletin. Pedro Medina, deputy director of the Spanish tourist office in the UK said: “We apologise unreservedly for the miscommunication earlier today which was due to a misunderstanding of the new entry requirements.”

Greece

Travellers aged five and above can enter Greece by showing proof of full vaccination, recovery from Covid-19, or proof of a negative PCR test taking within the 72 hour period before arrival. Greece has also made pre-holiday admin that little bit easier after it axed passenger locator forms for travellers last month.

Children under five are exempt from these travel measures and will not have to provide a negative test to enter Greece. Children aged 5 and above who have not had the vaccine will be considered unvaccinated, and must follow the same requirements as unvaccinated adults. This means they must be able to show proof of recovery from Covid-19 or provide a negative PCR result on arrival.

Turkey

Fully vaccinated Brits can visit Turkey without needing covid tests or quarantine. Those who are not double-jabbed will need either proof of a negative Covid test, or recovery from Covid in the six months before travel. Your Covid test can be either a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before entry, or a rapid antigen test taken within 48 hours.

Regardless of your vaccine status, all travellers aged six or over need to fill out an online passenger form within 72 hours before travelling to Turkey.
